Home Karla Gonzalez, DBTS CEO
Ms. Gonzalez migrated from El Salvador to the United States in 1992. Since her migration, she has worked hard to gain a promising future in the US. As both a woman and Latina business owner, Ms. Gonzalez is particularly interested in taking DBTS to a new level of achievement both for herself personally and as a testament to the success of Latino people. Her hard work and commitment is evidenced by her many awards and achievements since taking ownership. Those achievements include 2006 Inc. 500, 2007 ICIC Top 100, 2007 Top 100 MBE as well as additional certifications here locally in Washington DC and in neighboring states. Ms. Gonzalez attributes the success of the company to an unyielding commitment to its customers. She has learned and has advised other business owners to expect to work many long days and nights. "The most important trait of any business owner is a willingness to go the extra mile for their customer. My cell phone is always by my side and always on. There are rewards in business ownership but there are just as many personal sacrifices; it's finding the right balance between the two that will bring success." Tony Barrett, DBTS Executive Vice President
Mr. Barrett holds a BS in Marine Engineering from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a MS in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, he is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and certified Earned Value Professional (EVP). Prior to joining DBTS, Mr. Barrett was focused on program management for large-scale, enterprise-wide information technology (IT) projects and programs. This experience spans requirements analyses through concept exploration, systems development, full-scale development, full-scale production, and operational deployment and support. In the unclassified domain, Mr. Barrett is most proud of his technical achievements with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Coastal Patrol Boat Project. Several previous attempts by the Coast Guard to replace its coastal patrol boat fleet had failed. However, when Mr. Barrett took over as the Technical Director/Deputy Program Manager he moved the project from the first step of Mission Analysis through the final stages of full-scale development and deployment. He reduced total acquisition costs by 10% and life cycle costs by 25%; cut 4 years from the schedule; and increased operational effectiveness by 10% using cost-benefit and tradeoff analyses, off-the-shelf technology, commercial standards, and performance-based specifications. As a result he was awarded the Coast Guard's Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Barrett said, "No matter what the end product, whether it's a boat, a software program, or a help desk, it is the skill and motivation of the professionals involved and their choice of appropriate technology that ultimately determines the success of any project. As DBTS Executive Vice President, I'm applying my proven past experience in both of these to advance DBTS's fortunes by ensuring that our customers succeed." Dominic Taylor, DBTS Director of State and Local BusinessDominic Taylor joined DBTS in late 2004 as a Network Administrator. He quickly achieved a promotion to Account Manager in 2006 and in January 2008, Mr. Taylor joined the DBTS executive management team as Director of State and Local Business. His proven dedication to a job well done and client satisfaction are what created his expeditious rise to executive management. He continually strives to be intimate with the business needs of each DBTS customer to achieve exceptional results. Mr. Taylors holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing and Business Information Systems from Mississippi State University. He brings to DBTS nearly twenty years of consulting experience ranging from hands-on support to account and business management. As Director of State and Local Business, Mr. Taylor performs consulting and business development services to support DBTS corporate initiatives. He additionally serves as an advisor to clients regarding professional services and product support strategies. Mr. Taylor shows amazing customer service and embraces diversity with respect and dignity. He clearly understand each employee's role and purpose as accountable stakeholders for both the short and long term success of the company. His professional and tactful communication produces effective team cooperation. Mr. Taylor said, "DBTS is a team, from corporate management to our staff at various client sites, we're working together to give our clients the best solution to fit their specific needs." |
